Wireless Network Testing

Wireless Networks refer to any type of computer network that is not connected by cables of any kind.  They include 802.11a/b/g/n.  Wireless Networks are found in almost all organizations today and provide a simple and enticing target for attackers.

Testing includes:

  • Key Management
  • Encryption Scheme
  • Guest Network & Corporate Network Overlap
  • WIPS- Wireless Intrusion Prevention Services testing
  • Cafe Latte & Evil AP type attacks
  • Range & Site Surveys

Bluetooth testing is relatively new in the PenTesting space.  It was previously difficult to perform due to bluetooth adapter’s lack of promiscuous mode (a mode in which communication of all bluetooth devices in the area become visible).  Most bluetooth adapters are only privy to the communication of devices with which they are associated.

Bluetooth testing is an important consideration in your company’s security posture due to the shear amount of data contained on today’s smart phones.  This information can include things such as VPN credentials and intellectual property.

Testing includes:

  • Snarfing attack
  • All blue* attacks
  • Jacking Attacks
